Minimum System Requirements:
- A computer able to connect to the Internet using a modem with a speed of at least 28.8K (Recommended is 33.6K or higher).
- WebTV, Playstation 2, Sega Dreamcast, or any other device of this kind is not compatible with WebCT.
- An up-to-date Java/JavaScript enabled browser such as Netscape 4.0 (or higher) or Internet Explorer 4.0 (or higher). Internet Explorer 5 is the preferred/supported browser. Netscape 6.0 is currently not supported for WebCT 3.x or higher.
- Internet access
- Make sure that your browser is set to have both Java and JavaScript enabled.
- Make sure your cache settings are set to check for a new version every time the page loads.
- When using America Online (AOL) as your ISP, you may have trouble with its ability to communicate with WebCT. We recommend that you use a different browser such as Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer in place of the one built into AOL. With that being said, the AOL server looks for interaction within its software to detect a "live" session. If it does not detect action, it may cause a timeout so that you lose connectivity.
-
We suggest the following workaround: Sign on to AOL, open up a private "chat" room, minimize the screen and open your other browser. By having a live chat (albeit private) session open, the AOL server will detect interactivity and not drop your session.
- When using cable modem access. (i.e. - @Home, McLeod PrimeLine) it might be necessary to disable the proxy server while using WebCT.
- For assistance in using the features of your particular browser, look in the Help menu, the manufacturer's web site, or your ISP.
